Birthday: June 15

With your sparkle, you shouldn't be content to play in the minor leagues. Pay your dues and move up! Feeling a need to serve the world in some way, you have to ask, what exactly does the world need? To start with, it needs you and your unique, pleasant personality, and a lot less disharmony, something you may have had to grow up in, hindering parents and all. You're too smart to let the past hold you back.

So, you seek freedom and develop your ideals. Jealousy and treachery--why can't others just behave? You make a good nurturer and teacher--given the chance--and computers and the internet are useful tools--anything modern. Bad habits and vices--x-them out. You don't have the time. There's time for kites, ferrets, poems--any of life's special joys.

LOVE
You have good sense about what to get from a relationship--your expectations are realistic and basic. Therefore, you're rarely disappointed when things falter or halt because you're always straightforward and honest and willing to go that extra mile. Lovers must provide you emotional challenge, in order for you to fee that you are accomplishing something--you like tangible, not hopeful, results. More often than not, you're the stabilizing influence in personal affairs.

MONEY
You are a tireless worker and give everything you full effort and focus. (regardless of how inspired or sporadic your attention span). 6/15-born go to great lengths to provide top-notch service and accomplish what must be done before the urgings of fellow employees. In other words, keep away from weak-willed coworkers and aim for management positions or on-the-road kind of jobs. You're confident saying "no." Deep within, you understand that you can accomplish almost anything.

Birthday: June 14

Well-liked and depended upon, it is your quiet, thoughtful, fun-loving, and affectionate nature that sets you apart, whether you have good looks to match or not. You do need love in return and usually have it. Your home is you. To stay healthy, you need to express yourself, to get out and be seen more. Show off your craftsman-like skills or down-to-earth human qualities and excellent personal touch. You don't waste words, usually, though others do. They should listen.

A good eye for value and a bit finicky, you'd make a good mystery shopper or bargain hunter, and when cooking, you deliver up the right stuff. A smile always gets you more than a frown. A bed and breakfast would be a great weekend getaway for you; better yet, a hunting lodge for you and close friends.

LOVE
You're not one for slow courtship; you prefer to get down to business ASAP. Your desires come suddenly and strong--you inclination is to strike while the iron is hot. It's important that your partner enjoys socializing because you don't like being alone. You are a people-person and have many friends and interests. Don't shortchange you love life with a stay-at-home wallflower.

MONEY
You have eager, eagle eyes for money, and enjoy it to the fullest! You have enormous drive and ambition and are impatient with anything that slows your pace. To many coworkers, your goals may seem unrealistic, but you keep tweaking and fine-tuning lists and move forward with determination. It rarely occurs to you that you will fail. Your accomplishments are acclaimed and envied by many. Even when facing overwhelming odds, you assert yourself with confidence.

Birthday: June 13

Fateful June 13--soaked in karma and so misunderstood. This is a challenging day to be born. Your health could be better, and seemingly, no matter how hard you try, the rewards and satisfaction just aren't enough. Maybe your expectations get in the way. You smile and know you have abilities--instructional, mathematical, and organizational to name a few. Realize you're one of those people who really does need people--then you'll be the luckiest person in the world.

Since there are a lot of tremors in the "force" around you (the fault is in the stars, not yourself), feeling dependent may be natural. If so, realize there's nothing wrong with dependency since we are not all created equal. Earnestly do your part to overcome adversities. Try different paths without straining or stressing.

LOVE
In relationships, you either do too much or not enough. You need a partner with a steady hand and lucid mind, who tells you when you're over-the-edge, or out of their league. Much of your emotional difficulty results from crossed communication, rather than from lack of judgment. Mutual understanding will allow you both to grow, rather than one partner being swept along by the other.

MONEY
Although you have rich insight, you need to start learning about what is real and what is fiction. You're an easy target for a con game. 6/13-born aren't that great at math or science--not because you are slow but because you just don't think that way. But employers know they can count on you to get the job done. Seek jobs that don't require a lot of improvisation, because you need all the structure you can get.

The Elements

The ancients divided the twelve signs of the zodiac into four groups corresponding with the four elements - fire, air, water and earth. The rapport between any two people partly depends on the way in which their ruling elements interact. However, remember that there is no infallible rule when these principles are applied in such a general way to the abbreviated horoscope.

Two simple examples will explain this point. Capricorn is an earth sign and Sagittarius is a fire sign. Fire and earth have little in common, with the result that some degree of incompatibility often is found between these signs. But a Capricorn person who has a magnificent star pattern between Mercury, the planet of the mind, and Jupiter, the ruler of Sagittarius, it will not be surprising that this Capricorn will have an affinity with Sagittarians.

Aries is a fire sign and Gemini is an air sign. There is a harmonious affinity between fire and air which make these two signs very compatible. However, a Gemini person was born when Mercury, his sign's ruling planet, was in strong conflict with Mars the ruler of Aries. The result is that this Gemini will have negative experiences with several Aries people and feels general incompatibility with this sign.

It is important to know to which element your sign belongs to and how it interacts with others.

FIRE SIGNS (Red)
Aries, Leo, Sagittarius

Fire is compatible with fire and air, except in the case of the opposite pairs Aries-Libra, Leo-Aquarius, and Sagitarrius-Gemini. There can be strong initial attraction between opposite signs but after a while, the pendulum may swing the other way causing friction. Fire does not combine readily with water or with an earth sign.

AIR SIGNS (White)
Libra, Aquarius, Gemini

Air is compatible with air and fire, although initial affinity between the opposite pairs Gemini, Sagittarius, Libra-Aries, and Aquarius-Leo as shown in the zodiac wheel, may bring conflict. Air does not have much in common with water or earth.

WATER SIGNS (Blue)
Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces

Water is compatible with water and earth, except when the pair of signs are on the opposite sides of the zodiac wheel. These are Cancer-Capricorn, Scorpio-Taurus, and Pisces-Virgo. Water has little affinity with fire or air, so they are danger zones.

EARTH SIGNS (Brown)
Capricorn, Taurus, Virgo

Earth is compatible with earth and water, although some conflict may develop with a water sign if it is opposite your earth sign in the zodiac wheel. These pairs are Capricorn-Cancer, Taurus-Scorpio, and Virgo-Pisces. Earth does not mix easily with fire or air.

I'll try to put together all the possible combinations of the twelve signs, which yields a total of seventy-eight pairs. For the mean time, I'll have to psych myself out as this task is easier said than done. Hope to see you on my next post! ;)

The Signs

Some close human relationships inspire a sublime degree of personal happiness, others lead to nothing but conflict and heart-rending unhappiness. Why do you feel an instant rapport with one person at first meeting and, for no apparent reason, find another who turns you off, or even repels you? The mysteries of compatibility intrigue mankind and yet astrology, the oldest science known to man, can supply many answers to the riddle.

Let's take a look at some of the fundamental characteristics of each sign because they will play a significant role in determining compatibility when two people get together in a close personal relationship.

The single greatest defect of Virgos is that they are very critical of others... even to the point of being judgmental. If they overcome this negative trait, they can attain the highest spiritual achievement in life.

Sometimes they become so immersed with the details that they lose sight of the bigger picture. They also tend to worry a lot which can adversely affect their health. If they learn to discipline their minds to think constructive thoughts, they then tend to have good health and can be of great benefit to humanity. Also, they prefer an occupation that brings them in partnership with others or at least brings them close contact with people. They make good counselors and judges as they can see clearly both sides of an issue. However, this ability to see an issue from all sides frequently gives them a problem in making decisions, especially concerning minor matters. These people often become workaholics. They drive themselves hard, and usually drive others unmercifully. They despise weakness in themselves or in others.

These people call the shots as they see them without any embellishment; therefore, they are often considered to be blunt or lacking in tact.

Key phrase: I use!
Keyword: Ambition
Virtue: Respectfulness
Defect: Condescending
Qualities: Cardinal-Earth
Ruling Planet: Saturn

Capricorn is the tenth sign of the zodiac and is ruled by the planet Saturn. Many astrologers consider this to be the strongest sign of the zodiac. These people are frugal, hardworking and dedicated to achieving their goals. If they can maintain their integrity, they can achieve the highest of accomplishments. If they lack integrity, they may also achieve the highest accomplishments, but they will most assuredly have the greatest of falls. A recent example of this is Richard Nixon, a Capricorn, who became president and was forced from office because of his lack of integrity. This is because the ruling planet, Saturn, always gives perfect justice... what you sow, you will reap. Sow good seed and you reap good results. Sow bad seed and you reap undesirable results.

These are practical people. They will let nothing stand in their way. They are unbeatable enemies and loyal friends. They are neat and methodical. They also are frequently "slave-drivers."

They don't function well for long in subordinate positions. They need to be in charge, even if it is in a small way. Capricorns, commonly, live to a ripe, old age. They are old when they are young, and they are young when they are old.

They can be so stubborn that no one can reason with them. They also like to drift, rather than buckle down to a responsibility.

They alternate between pessimism and optimism. In fact, they alternate in much of their behavior from one extreme to the other; this is very annoying to anyone who has to live or work with them.

Generally, these are not ambitious people; they seem to be tuned in to some dream world. They often make excellent artists in all fields of art. They have hyperactive imaginations.

Pisces are blind to any faults in anyone they love.

Pisces tend to be: sensitive, impressionable, changeable, day-dreamers, compassionate, psychic, careless, and dependent.

Tous tout vient à point à qui sait attendre

I am extremely impatient. Those who know the real me will be left astounded at my daily milestones in the field of patience. I always thought that waiting was only for those who could afford it. I mean, yes, I could wait - but who says that I want to?

Here are a few scenarios that I often encounter, especially when I am in a hurry:
  • Long line to the ATM. I mean, "Hello!" If you are darned clueless don't use the damned machine! You shouldn't have gotten an ATM card in the first place if you don't know what to do with it. Maybe you thought, "Ah this would be better for me and much more convenient than hauling my lazy butt over to the bank to make withdrawals." YES, convenient for you. But NOT FOR those of US who have to wait behind your sorry a--! Okay, okay - that was a bit rude of me. But, heck, isn't it ruder if you make the line longer just because you are totally unaware on how to proceed with a darned transaction?
  • Withdrawals to the ATM with more than two or three cards. I've experienced this once. There was this guy making his transaction at the ATM. I said to myself, "What a lucky day! Only one guy at the machine. I could be at my rendezvous earlier than expected." So there I was minding my own business, WAITING. A couple of minutes passed, the guy in front of me was still punching a whole lotta numbers. At first I thought he was a case of the clueless, but he wasn't. I peeped and saw a 9"x12" brown envelope with an approximate number of 30-35 cards! Each painstakingly separated by clipped cash folded into transaction receipts. I let out a restrained growl, to subtly express my disgust at what was happening. The poor sap, completely unaware of my presence, just went on his "merry" way and kept pressing at the blasted buttons. I let out an "Ahem," and thankfully enough he paused and looked at my direction. I asked him, "Manong matagal pa po ba yan?" Miraculously, I was able to muster enough patience at that moment. Enough patience to keep me yapping at the unfortunate guy long enough to hear him say, "Mauna ka na. Madami pa ito." Whew.
  • A slow-moving queue to a supermarket counter marked as "EXPRESS LANE: 12 items or less only." Usually there are checkout counters dedicated for those who will pay in cash or credit cards and lines for those who shopped using baskets and pushcarts. And there are some who have this "12 ITEMS OR LESS." But here you see a long line of people, some with 12 items, others with blatantly more than 12 items and some with 2 baskets separating a pushcart's worth of groceries! People, come on now, 12 items isn't that hard to count. I mean, I AM stupid with Math, but hey a dozen shampoo (counts as 1), a pack of biscuits (2), 3 bottles of soda (3), and 6 bags of chips (6) already count as 12 items. 12 items or less NOT more. And you see people insist that what they have are only 12 items, when clearly it's not. Maybe it would be okay to let some people with 13, 17 or even 20 items through. But that's it. Those exceeding 20 must go to the basket lane or wherever the hell it is that they should go to. 20 is ENOUGH. Learn to count people. COUNT for cryin' out loud!
  • Bank tellers who are oblivious to the time and to the number of people congregating in front of their counters. I am amazed to see bank tellers who do not seem to be affected by the time in the least. Grrr... They probably point out, "Well, with the extended banking hours, we have more time to dilly-dall... err, serve you." It is truly a wonder to see them undaunted in the face of a horde of depositors lining up for their precious transactions. Nary a teller seems to kick it up a notch. Either every single one of them might be on a high dosage of barbiturates or they are just simply blind.
  • Public transport drivers who stop at every single, freakin' person standing in the street, even if they are not flagging them down. I know these people are driving to make a living, but that doesn't give them the right to encroach and eat up our precious time. Every single minute and second count, especially for those of us who have made a science in timing-in at just the right moment (1 minute or even 1 second late and you are screwed!).
  • Elevator boors. People inside the elevator pushing the "Open" button, even if there's no one else coming. Or those, who try to let other people in at the last second just before the door ALMOST closes. Or those who get on the 8th floor and get off at the 9th. There's this thing called STAIRS. I doubt that these people know of this breakthrough in architecture. Sigh.
  • Escalator hogs. Those who hog the space, stand in the middle so as no one (and I do mean no one, not even the thinnest folk) could squeeze through. It would be understandable if there were a number of people in front which would hamper any onward movement. If they couldn't move their carcasses forward, they could at least lean nearer to the sides to permit those behind to pick up their pace (if they choose to) and get on with their lives.
It might seem that I am being harsh to these individuals. I daresay, that I am not. What is harsh, uncouth and totally unacceptable is making people wait, especially if they shouldn't have to. Nobody has to bear the additional burden of waiting as there are better things to be preoccupied with other than that.

Waiting for the rainy season to quench the parched earth. Waiting for your love's sweet, sweet "YES." Waiting for a baby to be born. Waiting for your child to say their first words. See the things that are worth waiting for? These. These are things that should be afforded waiting. And not some worthless piece of crap borne out of indifference, of laziness, or of ignorance. I stop my ranting here. It would be rude of me to keep you here any longer than you should. ;)

Clockwatching by Jason Mraz

Take off both your shoes and clothes I’ll follow
Undo corkscrew drink from the half of a broken bottle
Lately we’re running out of time aren’t we
Smoking often and calling out our guilty pleasures
Let’s keep talking anything to stop clockwatching
Lately we’re running out of time aren’t we
Crazy for running all the time?
M-M-M-Maybe

Let’s forget we’re running out of time

I’m off like an aeroplane
I’m licking your postage stamp again
I’m using my right brain and I’m praying that we don’t crash
Who knew I’d come so fast?
So what if a two-pump chump can’t last
But I made it to three and I foreclosed a five-minute fantasy
On a short-lived flight making love on economy

No jumping conclusions
I don’t think there’s no solution
Let’s get backwards and forget our restless destination
Let’s live in the moment just this time could we?
Just take one moment of our time
M-M-M-maybe
Let’s forget we’re running out of time

I’m off like an aeroplane
I’m catching my second wind again
I’m using my left brain and I’m righting all my wrongs
I’m yearning to turn you on
I’ve been working on getting you off so get on board

But how can I guess by the subject of the best predicate is left unsaid
When the matter is too delicate my loneliness is evident

And it’s you
You’re running through my mind

And it makes me crazy, crazy, crazy

la la la la la
la la la la la (oh so amazing)

la la la la la
la la la la la
laaaaa

Lady dreamer you might be the soundest sleeper
tonight sleep tight and build your nest upon my shoulder

Au bout de son latin

It's been a while since I've put up a decent post here. I found myself groping around for new material, fresh ideas and other things that would fit in my blog. Since its inception I've had a handful of drafts that, as of this writing, still remain unfinished. A number of these where only written halfway through. The trains of thought governing these posts has left me with nary a clue on how to end them. And now, I just can't put myself in the right frame of mind to be able to finish even one draft.

I've had a lot of time thinking of what I want to do with this blog. And in that length of time I have cerebrated, luckily enough, I was stricken with a few ideas that might help me get back on track.

It got me tinkering with the idea of putting up my French corner, since I am in dire need of a way to practice what I've been learning in school. It's been one helluva class after the other, inducing bouts of internal brain hemorrhages and nose bleeding. A book I read suggested to devote and set aside a time from your day (an hour or so) for your French corner. Now that's one.

Hmm... Another idea I'm considering are birthday profiles... Though this might be a bit way over my head, it'd be a nice addition and prove to be well worth the effort (there aren't that many sites that give profiles for free). Since what would be posted are more general interpretations of what I have accumulated over the years, this should not be treated as professional work. It has been a preoccupation of mine to collect such information, and it would be a shame if I wasn't able to share any of it here... especially since I found most of them to be quite accurate. I just have to psych myself up since I should be doing 365 profiles, one for each day of the year... Talk about suicide missions...

Other topics that cropped up were: movies I've watched (though I shun at the thought of me doing a review), games I've played (PC, PS2, DS, GBA), TV shows that eat up my boob tube viewing hours, trips (I still have come up with something for my recent trip to Pagudpud/Ilocos/Vigan, been too lazy to fix the tons of photos), and other things that I might stumble upon along the way.

Probably, one reason why I haven't been around blogging is because I am currently stable. No emotional tension, no end-of-the-world type of distress, NADA. As I've previously stated, this blog was conceived as an outlet for unexpressed emotions, repressed rage and other similar what-have-you. Having no fiery rage to douse, no pent-up feelings to purge, nor any bad memories to expunge, I found no reason to undergo catharsis by writing.

I should be grateful that I am currently unencumbered with any emotional baggages. Don't get me wrong, I AM. It's just that, maybe, I have to displace my motivation from writing. I just have to find another
raison d'être for this blog. Another reason to keep on going. Just thinking about it puts a smile to my face somehow. I've got another thing to look out for. Another thing to look forward to.
